Abstract
The propagation of an atom laser beam through a Feshbach resonance region where the interaction between atoms is tuned from being repulsive to being attractive was studied. The attractive interaction was shown to produce quantum-correlated atomic pairs via modulational instability and highlights the promise for realizing nonclassical ultracold atomic sources by coherent control of the atomic interactions.
