Abstract
Attempts to introduce evaporation into the water budget as an independent term depends on our ability to model the process. This paper presents a classification scheme for such models which highlights their suitability for different tasks. Some forecasts and speculations regarding the response of evaporation and energy partition in the atmosphere to specified changes in climatic inputs and land use, are also made.-from Author
