Abstract

Fluorescence emission of radiating molecules in close proximity to bound waveguide modes is investigated and the electromagnetic power coupled into guided, radiation, and substrate modes are calculated for different planar waveguides; geometries that maximize power coupling into guided modes are analyzed.
