Abstract
Five discriminant functions that utilize laser-induced fluorescence to detect atherosclerotic plaque are evaluated. All five were capable of distinguishing atherosclerotic from normal tissue and may potentially make possible selective ablation of atherosclerotic plaque by laser-induced fluorescence-guided percutaneous fiber-optic laser angioplasty.
