Abstract

The paper by Poorter et al., contained publication errors which are corrected here. The 5th author name was incorrectly published as Brian Enquist instead of Brian J. Enquist. His affiliations should be Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, University of Arizona, Tucson, Arizona and the Santa Fe Institute, Santa Fe, New Mexico. The author Ivan Schiavini's affiliations should be Biology Institute, Federal University of Uberlandia, Uberlandia, Brazil. The author Bryan Finegan's affiliation should be corrected from Production and Conservation in Forests Programme, CATIE, Turrialba, Costa Rica to Forests Biodiversity and Climate Change Programme, CATIE, Turrialba, Costa Rica. On p. 1425, section 2 Methods, 2.1 Study sites and plots, precipitation range should be corrected from 784 to 878. The sentence should read “Precipitation ranged from 878 to 3991 mm year−1, and the soil total exchangeable bases from 0.2 to 36.3 cmol+ kg−1.” On p. 1432, Acknowledgments section, the authors would also like to recognize Fernando Casanoves and Fernando Fernández for providing Costa Rican trait data, thus: ACKNOWLEDGMENTS We gratefully thank all the people that have established and measured the plots, and the institutions and funding agencies that have supported this work over the years, specifically Long Term Ecological Research and USA-National Science Foundation for the Luquillo forest Dynamics plot, Consejo Nacional de Ciencia y Tecnología-SEMARNAT (grant CB-128136) and PAPIIT-Universidad Nacional Autonóma de México (grants IN216007-3, IN218416) for Nizanda, NSF Macro Systems award 1065861, DEB 1457812, Leverhulme Trust Fellowship and Oxford Martin School fellowship to B.J.E. for San Emilio, PAPIIT-DGAPA Universidad Nacional Autonóma de México (grants IN227210, IN213714) for Chajul. This study was partly funded by the European Union's Seventh Framework Programme ([FP7/2007–2013]) under grant agreement no. 283093; Role Of Biodiversity In climate change mitigation (ROBIN), with co-funding for M.T.v.d.S. and E.J.M.M.A. from the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs (KB-14-003-030). We thank Marco A. Romero for database management for Nizanda, Gilberto Jamangape García for his fieldwork support, the Chajul Station and Natura Mexicana for their logistic support, Fernando Casanoves and Fernando Fernández for providing Costa Rican trait data, Ben Turner and Jennifer Powers for providing soil data and two anonymous referees for their helpful comments on the manuscript. On p. 1432, Data Availability section: Environmental site data can be found in Supporting Information Appendix S1. Data on vegetation characteristics and biomass dynamics can be obtained from the first author upon request should be corrected to “Environmental site data can be found in Supporting Information Appendix S1. Most of the data on vegetation characteristics and biomass dynamics can be downloaded at https://doi.org/10.17026/dans-x22-fc2v” On p. 1433, Reference section: Maréchaux & Chave, 2017 and van der Sande, Arets et al., should be corrected to: Maréchaux, I., & Chave, J.
