Abstract

The original paper incorrectly cited the reference Horton (1940) as the source of Horton's infiltration theory of surface runoff. While that paper was slated for publication in Eos, Transactions of the American Geophysical Union, it was never published. [See Horton (1940)forEos's explanation and Beven (2025) for further discus sion.] In fact, Dr. Horton initially presented this concept in Horton (1933) and later derived the original infiltration model [Eq. (5) in an original paper] in Horton (1939). Therefore, the reference for Horton (1940) should be replaced with Horton (1939). To preserve the published version of record, these details have been corrected only in this erratum.
