Abstract
"124 Low-Back Pain Relief With a New 32-Contact Surgical Lead and Neural Targeting Algorithm" by Julie G. Pilitsis et al. Neurosurgery 2016; 63 (CN-suppl-1): 151, doi: 10.1227/01.neu.0000489694.03538.88. In the abstract, the fi rst sentence of the Methods section which reads "A multicenter, consecutive, observational study of a new 32- contact surgical lead was conducted using the Precision Spectra SCS System (Boston Scientifi c) in 100 subjects out to 12 months postimplant" should read "A multicenter, consecutive, observational study of a new 32-contact surgical lead was conducted using the Precision Spectra SCS System (Boston Scientifi c)." At the end of the Methods section, the following sentence should be added. "When data from multiple visits was available for a given time interval, minimum NRS was used for analysis." Th e Results section, which reads: "Surgical lead placement distribution was between T7 and L2, with most at T9 (26%). A mean reduction of 5.1 points (SD 2.15, P 001) from 7.8 (baseline) to 2.6 in overall pain was observed. A subset of subjects reporting low-back pain only exhibited a mean decrease of 6.0 points (SD 2.12, P 001) from 8.3 (baseline) to 2.2. Of these, 83.1% of subjects showed 50% back pain reduction. Increases in activities of daily living and reduction in pain medication usage were also observed in a majority of subjects." Should read: "A total of 109 subjects reported a baseline NRS score of 7.5 (SD 1.9). For a group of 40 subjects at 12-month interval (60d), a mean reduction of 3.7 points (SD 3.1, p 0.0001) from 7.1 (baseline) to 3.4 in overall pain was observed. A subset of subjects reporting low-back pain only (9 subjects at 12-month interval) exhibited a mean decrease of 3.7 points (SD 3.9) from 6.9 (baseline) to 3.2. Of these, 55.6% percent of subjects showed ≥50% back pain reduction." Th e second sentence of the Conclusion section, which reads "Th ese results support the postulate that advanced surgical leads and programming capabilities can foster improved low-back pain relief in subjects treated using SCS" should read: "We will continue our research in this area.".
