Abstract

Environmental tobacco smoke (ETS) is an important source of exposure to toxic air contaminants indoors. Virtually everyone in the U.S. is at risk of exposure and harm from ETS or secondhand (passive) smoke. This takes a variety of exposure patterns, including in the workplace, restaurants, bars, home, and fetal exposure via the placenta.
