Abstract
A lumped circuit approach was applied to study electrical properties of soil samples with various compositions and water contents. The extension of this method was made possible by using a coaxial sample holder. Electrical parameters of soils such as the conductivity, resistivity and permittivity were obtained by measuring magnitude and phase of sample impedance. Third degree polynomial equations, relating the relative permittivity to the volumetric soil moisture were different for various frequencies.
