Abstract

Soil Aquifer Treatment (SAT) was simulated at the bench scale by exposing wastewater effluent to bacteria in 5-day aerobic recirculating batch reactors. Ozonation, at two doses, was utilized to enhance the biodegradability of the effluent organic matter. Biodegradable dissolved organic carbon (BDOC) increased with the application of ozone, and again with a higher transferred ozone dose. Disinfection by-product formation potential (DBPFP) decreased after biotreatment, with the application of ozone and without.
