Effects of two's complement truncation quantization in state-space digital filters

Research output: Contribution to journalConference articlepeer-review

Abstract

Necessary and sufficient conditions are established for the existence of limit cycles due to two's complement truncation quantization in state-space digital filters. Accessibility of limit cycles is investigated, and a set of sufficient conditions is derived for the existence of period-one limit cycles with a specified access time. It is also established that if the system matrix has an inverse, then all possible limit cycles are accessible. The results are illustrated with examples.
