Abstract

Tobacco smoke exposure contributes significantly to cardiovascular damage through a number of pathways, including direct toxicity to the endothelium by free radicals, indirect effect of platelet aggregation, as well as increased catecholamine, homocysteine, and chronic oxidative changes occurring in LDL cholesterol. All ultimately disrupt myocardial structure and function for increased coronary heart disease.
