Abstract

Numerical analysis is performed to study the effects tilted ellipsoid of birefringence on the readout in magneto-optical (MO) data storage systems. Tilt of the ellipsoid and the residual phase shifts within the optical head in various combinations, could improve or degrade the quality of the MO signals to varying degrees.
