Abstract

Conventional small-signal models obtained by state-space averaging method can be conveniently used in dynamic analysis of DC-DC switching converters. However, validity of these models is often influenced due to nonlinear characteristics of switching power converters. In this paper, a sampled-data model is used to analyze the nonlinear characteristics of boost converter operating in continuous mode. Based on its result, the cause which leads to the loss of validity of the small-signal averaged model is found and a method to correct the small-signal model is proposed.
