Abstract

This article discusses some advances in optical fiber technology and its applications to the distributed feedback laser (DFB). The distributed feedback laser differs from the conventional structure only in the principle of its optical resonator. The DFB laser has light continuously recirculated, or folded back on itself, by the grating; hence the term 'distributed' feedback.
