Abstract

Peptides are being found to be increasingly important as hormones and neurotransmitters, and much reasearch is directed towards elucidating the physiological roles of these natural products in pain, reproduction, maintenance of blood glucose levels etc. In this review, Victor Hruby describes some of the conformational approaches that have led to significant insights into the chemical and physical properties of these compounds and so to the rational design of analogues with new and specific properties.
