Abstract

We introduce the design of statically foveated head-mounted displays based on a new perceptual-driven approach, aiming to offer a large field of view and high resolution with imperceptible image quality degradation eliminating the need for eye-tracking or scanning mechanisms. The system incorporates a uniform- resolution display panel and a spatially varying optical power eyepiece.
