Abstract
Last year's electoral campaign in the USA was of ‘historic dullness’, analysts agree. Despite a propaganda blitz which included almost 1,400 hours of TV campaign ads, the two leading presidential candiates failed to engage with the issues. In the end the main issue for the voters was which candidate they disliked the least.
