Abstract
This chapter will emphasize some of the most complicated situations faced by general surgeons including enterocutaneous fistulas, necrotizing soft tissue infections, postoperative anastomotic leaks, and delayed recognition of intestinal ischemia in order to shed light on how we surgeons handle serious situations. It will refrain from covering most of the cross-over between abdominal surgery and oncologic or trauma causes.
