Abstract

The appearance of dark solitonlike structures was studied using the model of a one-dimensional (1D) hard-core. Bose gas in a toroidal trap, or ring. Stationary solutions were derived that reflect some properties of dark solitons from the Gross-Pitaevskii (GP) theory. Dynamical solutions were also obtained for the case when half of an initially homogeneous ring BEC is phase imprinted via the light-shift potential of an applied laser.
