N2 - In the therapeutic management of prostatic cancer, we are faced with the treatment of an individual who, in the majority of cases, possesses waning immunocompetence. This, together with evidence that the immunologic response following cryosurgery of the prostate may be attributed to a hormonally and ontogenically dependent antigen(s), emphasizes the importance of evaluating the "cryosensitivity", namely, the concentration of prostatic tissue (secretory [tumor?])-specific or tumor-associated auto-(neo-?) antigen(s); physiologic state (elaboration of androgen) and immunocompetence of the prospective cryosurgical candidate.
