Abstract

Self-induced transparency effects in degenerate three-level quantum system in two dimensions were investigated using coupled Maxwell-pseudospin equations. Ultrashort pulse propagation in optical waveguides containing resonant nonlinearities was described. The system was discretized using finite differences and solved numerically by an iterative predictor-corrector finite-difference time-domain method.
