Abstract
The original version of this article unfortunately contained a mistake in the third paragraph under section Literature Review. The corrections is given below. The incorrect version: In contrast, other findings illustrate a less favourable picture. The Community College Research Center (Velasco et al., 2024), for example, reports that of the community college transfer students who complete baccalaureate degrees within six years, only 14% complete degrees in STEM fields. To put this into further context, most recently, only 59% of students who transferred from community college into four-year institutions nationally completed their baccalaureate degrees within six years (Community College Research Centre, 2022). This means that only about eight in every hundred community college students who transfer to a four-year institution graduate with a STEM degree within six years, demonstrating a pressing need to examine the transfer process for STEM aspiring students. The correct version: In contrast, other findings illustrate a less favourable picture. The Community College Research Canter (2022), for example, reports that of the community college transfer students who complete baccalaureate degrees within six years, only 14% complete degrees in STEM fields. To put this into further context, most recently, only 48% of students who transferred from community college into four-year institutions nationally completed their baccalaureate degrees within six years (Velasco et al., 2024). This means that only about seven in every hundred community college students who transfer to a four-year institution graduate with a STEM degree within six years, demonstrating a pressing need to examine the transfer process for STEM aspiring students. The original article has been corrected.
