title = "Control strategy for hyperthermia",
abstract = "The success of a hyperthermia cancer treatment requires reshaping the applied power to improve the thermal performance in the treatment volume. Herein, the steady state thermal response for a scanned focussed ultrasound system is optimized with respect to the four transducer scan parameters. The information obtained from the optimization study is used to establish a schedule of desirable scan patterns as a function of the estimated blood perfusion magnitudes. In addition, the thermal performance of the resulting closed-loop system is shown to be strongly influenced by the location of the measured outputs and the regulated outputs.",
