Abstract

We present initial results of a room-temperature continuous wave terahertz source as a local oscillator for a terahertz receiver or as an emitter for remote detection. The source is based on intracavity difference frequency generation within a dual color vertical external cavity surface emitting laser and delivers mW powers with a narrow linewidth. We present results at the frequencies of 820 GHz and 1.9 THz.
