Abstract
A combined investigation of the coherent and incoherent dynamics of optically excited charge carriers in a superlattice structure is presented. The coherent dynamics was probed by THz-emission spectroscopy while the population dynamics of the electrons were measured at comparable densities with a two-color pump/probe transmission setup. For electrons in the e1 miniband, the phonon-emission time is determined by measurement of differential-transmission-change spectra (DTS) transients at different excitation photon energies below and above the energy threshold for LO-phonon emission. A comparison of the characteristic time constants provide evidence for the conservation of the phase of the intraband coherence on LO-phonon relaxation.
