Abstract

In this presentation we investigate the potential improvement to existing bus interconnect systems using electro optic interfaces. This is accomplished by comparing commercially available electro optic devices to electrical interface transceivers. Next we present two free-space optical interconnect schemes for implementing single and multiple bus backplanes.
