Abstract
Parents of children with disabilities are very likely to use complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) for their children (1-12). CAM is often used for chronic conditions when conventional medicine is not enough, and as a result, children with significant medical needs are at the leading edge of pediatric CAM use in the United States. In this chapter, we will explore the varieties of CAM practices, reasons for CAM use, and offer some recommendations for the integration of validated CAM therapies with traditional medicine.
