Abstract

We will discuss our efforts in the developmentof a new synthetic methodology, termed, "Colloidal Polymerization", where polymer coated ferromagnetic nanoparticles are used as "colloidal monomers" to form fused 1-D nanomaterials of cobalt oxide. The synthesis and electrochemical characterization of these materials will be discussed. These materials are currently being evaluated as nanostructured electrode materials of Li-batteries and supercapacitors.
