Abstract

The modelling of coarsening dynamics of dewetting films using lubrication theory for unstable thin liquid films on solid substrates was discussed. Surface tension and intermolecular interactions with the solid substrate were the dominant physical effects driving the fluid dynamics. The fluid underwent a coarsening process in which droplets moved and exchanged mass on slow time scales.
