Abstract

This paper describes clinical studies comparing a new chlorofluorocarbon (CFC)-free salbutamol sulphate metered-dose inhaler with current CFC-formulations. Such studies are vital to ensure a smooth transition for asthmatic patients who switch to the new inhalers as CFC-containing products are phased out. The results of the studies described confirm hydrofluoroalkane (HFA)-134a salbutamol as a suitable alternative to the CFC comparator formulations tested.
