N2 - The first steps in the evaluation of shoulder pain include obtaining a thorough history and performing a physical examination, both of which allow the clinician to form an accurate diagnosis. To confirm the diagnosis, it may be necessary to obtain radiographs, magnetic resonance imaging scans, or ultrasound images. Referral to specialists may also be appropriate for diagnostic purposes or treatment.
