Abstract
The classical capacity of the lossy bosonic channel was investigated. It was shown that its Holevo information is not superadditive. It was also found that quantum features of the signals such as entanglement are not required to achieve the required capacity. The capacity of the far-field, free-space optical communication system was also discussed.
