Brillouin lasing in integrated liquid-core optical fibers

Abstract

We report Brillouin lasing in an integrated liquid-core optical fiber (i-LCOF) filled with neat CS2. This is the first observation of Brillouin lasing in the liquid state of matter, to the best of our knowledge. The linewidth of the single frequency liquid-based Brillouin laser was estimated to be < 1kHz by beating two similar but independent lasers.
