N2 - We interrogate stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) in large mode area photonic bandgap fiber. Theoretical and experimental investigations reveal a peak gB of ≤7·10-12 m/W, which represents a significant reduction over commercial Yb-doped LMA step-index fibers.
