Abstract
Bose-Einstein condensate crossover to the Tonk gas in toroidal and long cylindrical traps of high aspect ratio was analyzed. A hybrid Bose-Fermi variational theory was developed and applied to investigate the crossover. The Girardeau-Arnowitt (GA) theory was generalized to treat the gradual onset of fermionization. Extension of the one of the theories to three dimensions by allowing for variable transverse confinement was illustrated.
