Abstract

Photorefractive (PR) composites based on a new polymer, poly(acrylic tetraphenyldiaminobiphenol) (PATPD) were investigated. The development and performance of PATPD-based composites with stable video-rate compatible response times over large exposures was demonstrated. The composites show reasonable phase stability while maintaining diffraction efficiency and gain coefficients. It was found that the response time in fast PR polymers can be limited by the photoconducting properties rather than by orientational diffusion.
