Abstract

High resolution (350 Hz) measurements of hyperfine structure on the J =5, K =3 inversion transition in NH, are reported. The average nitrogen quadrupole coupling strength is -393.90k0.08 kHz. This value is in excellent agreement with a value predicted by Hougen's theory.describing distortion corrections to quadrupole coupling in NH, and does not agree with a value calculated without the correction. The line center frequency and other hyperfine structure parameters are given.
