Abstract

The four wave mixing in quantum degenerate gases of bosonic and fermionic atoms was compared. The matter wave gratings formed from the bosonic and the fermionic atoms exhibit identical Bragg scattering. The coherent matter-wave amplification and superradiance that occur in degenerate Fermi gases is due to constructive many particle quantum interferences called as `Bose enhancement'.
