Abstract

The rate of the nuclear reaction 16O(p,α) 13N is shown to be very important in determining nucleosynthesis that occurs in the oxygen rich layers of an exploding star. The value of the cross section for this reaction in a specified energy range will help to determine the nature of explosions that have produced the abundant elements between 28Si and 42Ca.
