Abstract

Bioactivity-guided fractionation of a cytotoxic extract of Aspergillus tubingensis, a fungal strain occurring in the rhizosphere of the Sonoran desert plant, Fallugia paradoxa, afforded a dimeric naphtho-γ-pyrone asperpyrone D, nine known naphtho-γ-pyrones, funalenone, and the cytotoxic cyclic penta-peptide, malformin A1.
