Abstract

Dendroclimatic work began in Japan in 1920 and in China in the 1930s. As the largest landmass in the N Hemisphere, Asia is of great significance to the development of a hemispheric tree-ring data base. Discusses the limited studies that have been performed; the main problems for the future would appear to be the calibration and verification of reconstructions, since the areas without historical records are those often most remote from weather stations.-L.F.Musk
