Abstract
The block diagram of the arithmetic and trellis coded quantization are presented. The TCQ encoder and decoder use Ungerboeck's trellis which are defined by rate 1/2 convolutional codes. ATCQ systems, using both uniform and optimized reproduction alphabet were investigated.
