Approaching the quantum limit of sub-diffraction incoherent barcode reading

Abstract

We developed a quantum-inspired adaptive algorithm using spatial-modedemultiplexing measurements to read incoherently illuminated barcodes at large distances. In simulations, our scheme accurately discriminates barcodes in 20x less time than direct imaging at a standoff of 1 km.
