Abstract

In this chapter, fully coupled poroelastic formulation is presented. Governing equations are obtained by making analogy with thermoelasticity. To demonstrate the capability of the approach, two different example cases are considered including one-dimensional and two-dimensional consolidation problems and a square plate with a hydraulically pressured crack problem. Displacement and pore pressure distributions are obtained by using the presented formulation.
