Abstract

A correcting method of surface residual irregularity and distortion caused by the weight of large standard mirror through using the active optics technique was put forward. The structure and performance of a new developed mechanical actuator, applied as a tools to bring force on mirror, are introduced. The determination of the force and deformations introduced by the actuators at different positions are applied. The algorithm of control force matrix for an actuator array related to the minimum irregularity of mirror is presented. The experimental studies are taken for correcting surface irregularity of a standard spherical mirror at different state, which has diameter of 230 mm, center thickness of 18 mm and radius curvature of 880 mm, and a good result is demonstrated.
