Abstract
A theoretical model was used to study the factors that contribute to the heterogeneous distribution of tissue pressure of oxygen (PO2) and the occurrence of hypoxic regions in tumors. A Green=s function method was used to predict the distribution of PO2. For purpose of comparison, further calculations were performed in which all vessels were assumed to be at the same PO2, and in which a simple Krogh cylinder model was assumed, with the same vascular density as the simulated region. Finally, the resulting data was analyzed.
