Abstract

We have designed a compact spectrometer by cascading a simple Fabry-Perot etalon and a cylindrical beam volume hologram. The combination of these two elements results in a twodimensional spatial-spectral mapping in the output plane. Using this spectrometer, ultra-high resolution (better than 0.2 nm) over a large bandwidth (larger than 300 nm) has been experimentally demonstrated for diffuse light sources.
