title = "An analytical method for evaluating repairs in composite honeycomb structures",
abstract = "This study presents a super element as an alternative to conventional solid elements when analyzing scarf repair configurations in composite panels. The super element is composed of a higher order plate element for the adherends and a linear solid element for the adhesive. It eliminates through the thickness discretization while providing complete three-dimensional stress and strain fields without any requirements on the nature of the lamination and the type of loading. The higher-order nature of the plate theory makes it suitable for analyzing sandwich panels. This approach is very suitable to support the design, analysis, and verification testing of composite panels with an existing unrepaired damage and a parametric range of scarf repair configurations with and without external patches.",
