N2 - To the Editor: In the October issue of Runner's World, one of us (K.L.) was quoted as describing the cases contained in out Journal article “Running — An Analogue of Anorexia?” (Feb. 3, 1983) as “composites.” We wish to clarify this matter. Each of the cases in our article depicts the history, attitude, and behavior of one individual. Alterations are minor and serve only to protect the identity of the persons concerned. The three cases were selected from among the more than 60 people who were interviewed because they exemplified the attitudes and behavior characteristic of a larger.
